Sticky and Delicious Pilav, A Must for Turkish Families!

Pilav is one of Turkey's favorite rice dishes. It comes in many different versions, including traditional white rice and rice soaked in broth. Either version comes with special seasonings such as canola oil, onion and garlic, as well as fresh herbs and dried fruits.

Ingredients:

- 1 cup long grain rice
- 2 cups water
- Half an onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 teaspoon salt


Preparation:
1. Place onion and garlic in a saucepan. add canola oil and heat.
2. Add rice and stir until rice is golden brown.
3. Add water and salt and bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium.
4. Cover the pot and cook for 15 minutes, then uncover and stir.
5. Cover again and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes.
6. Turn off the heat and let the rice rest in the pot for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
